winter

snow has fallen in the dakotas... finally! it's now time to officially whip out the hats and mittens, boots and scarves, and get our winter layering action on!
what is my favorite winter essential you ask?
well, i love to wear slouchy knit cap. duh.
and wear it i shall!

what's your favorite essential?
there has to be something that signifies the end of fall and the beginning of winter....
whether its a pair of boots and digging out your winter coat, there's always that one thing that gives the little warm and fuzzies on the inside.

and another thing... CHRISTMAS is only 39 days away. WHAT?!

life

right now, we're literally on the edge of our future.
where are we going to go? what are we going to do?
recently, i had a realization: are "what i need to do", and "what i want to do" different?
they don't have to be.
sometimes it's terrifying to pursue what makes you happy over what makes you money...
but it's worth it... think about it :)

classic

how can we dress so that in, say, 15 years we don't look back on this time and think, "barf... what was i wearing?" it's a tricky idea. how can you look current and up-to-date yet timeless at the same time?
well, look at what has always worked throughout the years:

camel trench, leather jackets, jeans, ballet flats, aviators, crewneck tees/sweaters,
blazers (sans shoulder pads), structured pants, simple heels, button ups

notice: these are all basic BASIC things.
personally, i think the key to looking cool and classic is to have that solid "basic" base.
then add some flair! a bright scarf, a fun hat, some chunky jewelry, a statement shoe, up-to-date hair...
whatever you want.
you can look classic while still being you

autumn

one of the best things about fall is that you get to layer up a storm! sweaters, scarves, socks, coats, hats, oh my! One of the best and most practical outfits to wear during the autumn season is the classic
(and my all- time fave)

SKINNY JEANS, BAGGY SWEATER, CHUNKY SCARF, RIDING BOOTS, RAY-BAN COMBO!

it's equal parts comfy and stylish and can be tweeked in so many ways.
no matter who are, what your size, or what the day is like, it is the best go-to outfit in the history of life. period.

Sawry

Dearest pals, sawry i haven't been diligent with my writing. i've had a lot of shtuff to do... anywho, i was scouring the internet (obviously with some intense and very important work to be done) when i happened upon this pin, ironically enough on pinterest. it sums up one of my top philosophies/rules to live by:
of course, there are certain exceptions to this rule:
if you're at home, then by all means, SWEAT IT UP
if you're at a slumber party, SWEAT IT UP
if you're going through a bad break up, SWEAT IT UP (unless you're out then good god do not! you need to show your ex what he's missing!)
and finally, if you're on the cusp of death, for the love of all that is holy, SWEAT IT UP!
otherwise, as detailed in my prior post, it is just as easy to rock cute jeans and a tee, and you'll look soooooo much more put together! now, don't get me wrong, i enjoy sweat pants as much as any gal, but i try and enjoy them in the comfort of my apartment.

You are gorgeous! Dress like it!

**unless on the cusp of death**

hole...

so.... today in class i was sitting there minding my own  beeswax when someone pointed out there was a hole in the armpit of my sweater.
HOW DEVASTATING.
i've had this sweater since i was 16... so about 5 years now. so a hole makes sense, the time must come eventually. but in my armpit? like right in there, it's unfortunate. for sure.

but there is a silver lining to this stinky hole in my sweater.
time to find a new one!

mathematics

If you ask me, there is a simple and easy to follow equation (of sorts) for a cute, comfy, and easy outfit.

(rachel bilson)
COMFY TEE + YOU'RE BEST JEANS + BLAZER OR CARDI
+ SIMPLE SHOE (+ possibly a scarf) = CLASSY LADY :)

It's an outfit that can work for anyone, seriously. It's classic, comfortable, and can be changed up in so many ways to keep it unique and fresh.

Yup!
